Dr. Mehmet Oz mentioned that any types of stretching, strengthening and endurance exercises are good for those who have Fibromyalgia.  People who have Fibromyalgia find that is very hard to handle certain type of exercises such as jogging and rather lie face down in a large pile of dirty laundry. Fibromyalgia patients continuously battle with widespread deep muscle pain and fatigue which makes you feel like you don’t even want to try to do much of any movement.  As a person who has severe Fibromyalgia and battle with widespread deep muscle pain on a daily and nightly basis for over a decade, it has been a difficult journey however I have continued to fight through it. 

Two of the best exercises fibromyalgia patients should try:

Warm water aerobic exercise in a pool facility with a heated pool can help to improve symptoms compared to exercising in cold water may increase symptoms. 

Other benefits of warm water exercises:

·         It will not impact the muscles and joints due to the water providing resistance.  The water resistance which helps to decrease the full effects of gravity and moving is easier to do.

·         Improves pain levels

·         Reduces overall pain

·         Helps to improve cognitive functions

·         Lessens overall anxiety and depression


The second best exercise for Fibromyalgia patients is Yoga which provides a good way of stretching the body, loosening up tight muscles and joints.  Yoga helps with building overall balance and strength. As a person advances further into Yoga moves it will provide them with a cardiovascular workout.  Yoga focuses on controlling breathing and awareness by helping the person to relax, find calm and focus the mind.
